Sustainability begins with transparency

In our industry there is a lot going on in terms of sustainability. Henry Oosthoek, the director of Koppert Biological Systems, believes that sustainability should be inherent in your own values. You must have this awareness. 'The modern consumer is increasingly geared towards integrity', says Volkert Engelsman, the director of Eosta. 'They don't just buy plant aesthetics, but health as well'.


Luckily, the sector keeps us on our toes through the internet, social media and NGOs. But is this enough? We are taking out a huge mortgage against our children’s future if we continue like this. It is evident that consumers are more and more concerned about their health and that of the environment. We need to get rid of 'what you don’t know won’t hurt you'.
